UV Lash Extension FAQs
Why UV Lash Extensions?
When doing UV lash extensions, Perfek Beauty uses a LED that cures lash adhesive with a gentle LED light instead of waiting for glue to dry naturally. This means less irritation, better lash retention, and lashes that are instantly ready for water, steam, or makeup without the 24-hour wait time.
Are UV lash extensions safe?
Yes! The Opal LED system we use has been extensively tested for safety and is rated “Risk Group 0 (Exempt),” meaning the UV exposure is negligible. To put it into perspective, you’d get more UV exposure from a quick walk outside than from all your lash appointments combined. Other safety benefits include:
Reduced irritation: The adhesive contains 25% less of the ingredient that typically causes sensitivity, and because it cures instantly, it releases fewer fumes.
Clean ingredients: The adhesive is U.S.-made and designed to be a greener, safer choice for clients.
Can I get UV lash extensions if I have sensitive eyes?
Many clients with sensitivities prefer getting UV lashes because of the reduced fumes and lower irritant levels in the adhesive. However, since the glue still contains cyanoacrylate, reactions are still possible. If you’ve had sensitivities in the past, we recommend a patch test and consultation first.
Are UV lash extensions safe for pregnant or breastfeeding clients?
Yes! The adhesive we use is formulated with bio-compatible ingredients, making it a safe option for expecting or breastfeeding clients who still want gorgeous, long-lasting lashes.
Will the curing light harm my eyes?
No. The LED lamp emits visible purple light at 395–400nm, which does not penetrate tissue or harm the eyes. The system has been third-party tested to ensure complete safety. During a full set, the light is only on for about 6–8 minutes total, and for a fill, only 3–4 minutes.
Why do I sometimes see a purple glow during the service?
Some clients notice a faint purple light through their closed eyelids. This is completely normal and not harmful. If it bothers you, your lash artist can apply an extra pad or tape for added comfort.
What makes UV lash extensions different from traditional ones?
Instantly cured: Traditional glue takes up to 48 hours to fully cure, while UV adhesive cures in just 1–3 seconds with light.
No wait time: You can shower, work out, or apply makeup immediately after your appointment.
Less irritation: Faster curing means fewer fumes and less chance of sensitivity.
Better retention: Clients often find their lashes last longer compared to traditional extensions.
Do I need special aftercare for UV lash extensions?
Aftercare is very similar to traditional lashes, but with one big difference—you don’t have to wait 24 hours before getting them wet! We also offer aftercare wash, just ask at your visit! Here are some tips:
You can wash your face and shower immediately after your appointment.
Avoid mascara on volume sets.
Don’t use lash curlers or heated lash tools.
Brush your lashes daily.
Sleep on your back when possible, or use a silk pillowcase to reduce friction.
How are UV lash extensions removed?
Just like traditional extensions, UV lashes should only be removed by a professional lash artist to avoid damaging your natural lashes. Because the adhesive is stronger, a specialized remover is used during the process. If you need to remove your lashes, please don’t hesitate reaching out!
